For 2 years Garmin EXpress on Windows7 has worked beautifully.

Today when I tried to start it I saw:

“express.exe could not start: This application requires one of the
following
versions of the .NET Framework: .NETFramework, Version=v4.5.2.
Do you wish to install this .NET Framewoerk version now?”

and if I say no then GarminExpress exits. If I say Yes, then an .exe file
gets
downloaded and I'm left wondering how to proceed from there on.
(Talks about 'next, make your app...")

Googling on 'Garmin Express download' I see the current version *includes*
NETFramework, Version=v4.5.2.

Anyone here know what is going on with GarminExpress?

I guess the next thing to try is a fresh install of Garmin Express in the
hope it
will in the process sort out the .NETFramework function...

Yup. Uninstall the old one, install the new, and it's very likely that
it'll all be fixed.

This was, apparently, beyond her ken. So far beyond her ken that she
was well into barbie territory.

Well, acually it says that under "System Requirements", rather than as
a
component of the Garmins Express download...

What I don't understand is why - after years of working beautifully -
does Garmin
Express now fail to start because it needs the .NET Framework stuff?

I hope it's not because Garmin is aiming to wriggle out of it "Lifetime
maps"
obligation...

Sorted! Installed the .NETFramework 4.5.2 that Garmin Express needed.
Clean install and Garmin Express then worked perfectly normally,
updating both
Nuvi2547 & also Honda maps.

But still puzzled why - after years of perfect - updating GE suddenly
demanded
.NETFramework...
