How to change language in MapSource installation
(too old to reply)

I'm trying to install an English version on a German Windows XP.

I have tried to set the international settings to all English,
but MapSource still installs a German version.

Any ideas on how to work around this?

I had same effect with Spanish/English. Somebody suggested:

"After unzipping the update, find the directory with the language
files,
and delete the spanish one. Then it will install in english.

Or at least, it did for me, after deleting the danish one, last time
I updated."

I tried this, but it didn't work - perhaps you'll have better luck.

That was my suggestion, and no, it doesn't work anymore. The old updates
were zip files, now there is just one .EXE with everything included.

And deleting the language DLL after installing just makes it impossible
to start MapSource at all.

I don't own newer GPS to have any experience you guys have, but how about
the TEMP FOLDER where Garmin stores *before* start copying to the install
folder? It's just a wild guess of cource

I used that temporary folder once when I was converting non-routing
MetroGuide maps so they could be changed to autoroute. If I remember
right the temporary files were stored at the following location during
the map creation and upload process:

C:\Documents and Settings\****\Application Data\Garmin

**** can be a user name or All Users depending on your system and how it
is set up.

You had to go there and copy one of the temporary files just at the step
where the map transfer to the GPS receiver was getting started. All the
temporary files were deleted at the end of the upload.
