problem after updating software Vista Hcx

I just received my new Etrex Vista HCX. After an hour playing with
this new toy, I installed mapsource trip and waypoint manager on my pc
and connected the vista. Everething was fine untill I used the
webupdater to update the vista's software. At the end of the
updatingproces, there was a problem: the vista turned off. I can't
start it up again! (connected with the usb-cable or not connected...
the batteries are good..)
Does someone have a suggestion how I can resolve this problem (except
sending it back ...)?

There are some "secret" keystrokes that will do hard and soft resets and
may help you recover from where you are. I don't know them but a call
to Garmin support at 1 800 800 1020 will usually get someone that will
walk you through it.

What you learned the hard way is that Garmin Webupdater is troublesome
and and can be dangerous in use. I think it has to do with the servers
timing out or something and not finishing the process. But you can also
download an update file to your computer and run the update locally.
That is pretty much a no brainer and is dead reliable in my experience.
I've never had it miss or fail once. I would not use the Webupdater on
a bet.

Hi Jef, i was browsing on the web because i'm having the same problem you had on 2007. Mi vista Hcx went off after i update it using webupdate software (the batteries were 100% and it was connected with the usb-cable). It would'n turn on ever since.

i was wondering if you fixed the problem and how yo did it?
