I have a flaeky Garmin Nuvi 2555 and just acquired another 25555...
I used Garmin Express to copy over some of the saved info.
I then manually copied the GPX and POI files I had manually copied.

The last missing piece - is the RECENT entries.
It appears that those are not copied and saved by Garmin Express...
Thoughts ???

PS-

I have three Garmin programs: Garmin Map Update.app, Garmin Express.app
and Garmin WebUpdater.app.

It has been three years since I updated to the newest Garmin. I do not
remember how I transferred all manually-entered locations to the newer
unit. I think it was the Garmin Express program I used, and do not
recall any problem. I do not remember a "Recent Entries" category.

I have the extra MicroSDHC card. If your Nuvi does not have that card
(or a place for it), you may have run out of internal storage space.

it's no big deal -
The Garmin Express will copy the Saved/Favs from one unit (backup) to
the new unit.... but nothing references the "recents" -
The only way is to go thru the Recents and "save" the ones you want,
which then makes them part of the Saved/Favs - which will get backed up
& copied.

As mentioned - I also manually had created and copied over the GPX and
POI files - from some outside editors like you have -
Also downloaded some extra "cars"
and copied those into the "Vehicle" sub-dir...

all is good -
